The WonderSwan Color was released on December 9, 2000by Bandai. The system had a larger, color LCD screen than the original Wonderswan. Like the original WonderSwan, the WonderSwan Color could be played either vertically or horizontally, and had many games based on anime like One Piece or Digimon. The system can run for 20 hours off of 1 AA battery. The WonderSwan Color offers backward compatibility with the original WonderSwan games.
Due to Bandai’s dealings with Square, the WonderSwan color had exclusive releases of the original Famicom/Nintendo Final Fantasy game with improved graphics and controls. The WonderSwan Color system was also released in limited edition Final Fantasy bundles; these bundles came with either Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy II with a Final Fantasy-themed casing.
